Katherines fourth album in three years sticks fairly rigidly to what's proved thus far to be a hugely successful template. It contains a selection of old standards and interpretations of more modern songs, plus bite-sized extracts from longer works - only one of these 14 tracks breaches the five minute mark. Serenade begins with an Italian version of (Everything I Do) I Do It For You, featuring Bryan Adams on rhythm guitar (he also took the soft-focus cover shots). Translating previous chart mega-hits was a trick successfully deployed on Living A Dream, where Jenkins reinterpreted Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You as L'Amore Sei Tu. Unsurprisingly her reading of Green Green Grass Of Home jettisons the song's spoken revelation of a prisoner awaiting execution. Instead, liberation comes from the Treorchy Male Voice Choir, who provide gallant support to what will doubtless become a live favourite.
